Anchorage Offers Multimodal Delivery Options For China

Anchorage, AK - An article entitled: "Anchorage offers a way out for China manufacturers" recently appeared in Cargonews Asia in which Anchorage is described as an opportunity for China manufacturers to gain the competitive edge by establishing local parts banks and decreasing delivery times through multimodal transportation options.

Written by Phil Hastings, the story highlights Anchorage's advantages of 62 additional US-China all-cargo flights, use of foreign trade zones and the opportunity to dock at a less-congested port. As Hastings puts it, "manufacturers exporting their products to North America or Europe could hold spare parts in the foreign trade zone at Anchorage, U.S. and use that Alaskan gateway's wide range of freighter services to get spare parts delivered by air to customers within eight hours".

"Meanwhile, other Asian exporters and forwarders shipping containerised goods to North America by sea could by-pass the major - and sometimes congested - US west coast ports like Los Angeles and route their traffic into Anchorage port for onward movement to final destination via domestic service vessels or truck/rail".

This article was generated through interviews held during The International Air Cargo Conference in Bilbo, Spain in September. Press appointments were geared toward generating media attention among national and international publications serving industries targeted by AEDC, including: Air Cargo and Global Logistics, High Tech and Light Manufacturing. AEDC is continuously working on its global campaign to generate national and international press coverage for Anchorage.
