Governor To Tour New Hutchison High School

Juneau, AK - Governor Frank H. Murkowski will be in Fairbanks on Tuesday, August 24 to tour the new James T. Hutchison High School. While in Fairbanks, he will also vote in the primary election in his home precinct.

Hutchison High School is a career technical center offering core academic classes and five technical programs. These programs provide students with hands-on training for careers after high school and a solid foundation for future education or technical training. Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and the university jointly operate the new facility, which includes Hutchison High School and Tanana Valley College of the University of Alaska.

Hutchison High School will open its doors to students for the first time on Monday, August 23.

The governor will tour the facility and speak with students. Members of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board, School District Superintendent Ann Shortt, University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor Stephen Jones, and Tanana Valley College Director Jake Poole will join the governor on the tour.
